The Doberman Shepherd is an intentional cross, not a kennel-club breed with a single written standard. Two dogs from the same pairing can differ in size, coat, and temperament, because each puppy inherits a different mix of traits from the contributing breeds.

A Doberman Shepherd mixes a Doberman Pinscher with a German Shepherd Dog. It is a large, short- or medium-coated working dog, often black-and-tan or sable, with a wedge or shepherd head and ears that stand or fold.
Two working breeds make a serious companion. They need training, exercise, and a handler who can manage a strong dog. The coat sheds if the Shepherd jacket wins. This is a poor first-dog mix.
