The Bourbonnais Pointer is a compact, muscular pointing dog, often born with a naturally short tail. The coat is short and the color is usually white with liver or fawn ticking that gives a faded, roan look.

A compact French gundog with a short coat and a worker’s need for field time; happier in a house that hunts or hikes than in a still flat.

The Bourbonnais Pointer, or Braque du Bourbonnais, is a French pointing dog from the old province of Bourbonnais. It is a close-working gundog, often tailless or short-tailed from birth. The UKC classes it as a Gun Dog.

Color: White with liver or fawn ticking and patches; the ticking can look almost solid

Temperament

These pointers are typically gentle at home and earnest in the field. They want to work near the handler and can be sensitive to rough training. They need regular bird work or long walks.

Wipe the short coat after field work and clean the ears.
