The Australian Eskimo is an intentional cross, not a kennel-club breed with a single written standard. Two dogs from the same pairing can differ in size, coat, and temperament, because each puppy inherits a different mix of traits from the contributing breeds.

An Australian Eskimo mixes the American Eskimo Dog with the Australian Shepherd. The coat is abundant and often white or white with Aussie markings. Ears are erect or semi-erect, and the tail is plumed.
This is a vocal, bright companion. The Eskimo side barks; the Aussie side watches. Coat care is real work when the undercoat blows. They need daily activity and something to do with their minds. A white double coat shows dirt and needs brushing, not only the occasional bath.
